How did we get here, where are we going and who's along for the ride?

Raised in the cabbage patch, I grew up with parents and grandparents who were avid gardeners. We grew our own food, canned and preserved the excess, and repeated the process every year. It wasn't until many moons later, after college and career as a graphic artist, sitting at a desk all day… I began to long for the feel of the soil between my toes. The call to change my life was staring at me through the computer screen. I loved to grow things… so I might as well farm!

It really wasn't that easy. I was in a comfortable job, loved the people I worked with, the pay was ok. Things were alright. Still though, "it" was itching me. Propelling me forward. I soon heard the call of a program called "Southern Illinois Farm Beginnings." We were the first to sign up. This program was exactly what I needed to focus my thoughts about my farm and channel these feelings into a business plan. After graduation in March 2012, my partner (Steve) and I took the plunge and bought some land with the help of family (and the bank!).  So, here we are!
